Dr. Qais Ghanem made a presentation on that Tuesday February 12 about Pharma Care.

It was a meeting hosted by the OHC, the Ottawa Health Coalition. This is a local group which provides a forum for  concerned citizens to discuss issues relevant to public health care. The panelists were Mr Mike McBane, President of the Ontario Health Coalition, Ms Judy Wasylycia-Leis, MP for Winnipeg North, and Dr Qais Ghanem. The discussion was moderated by former Ottawa Mayor Marion Dewar. Thirty persons gathered in the downtown Ottawa Public Library auditorium to hear what the faculty had to say, and to ask questions.

Dr. Ghanem ardently believes in publicly funded, universal health care for all Canadians, of equal quality in all provinces, and is against any form of two tier system.

He has also dedicated four of his radio shows "Dialoge with Diversity" on CHIN Radio, 97.9 FM to the plight of international medical doctors, and their lack of opportunity to get licenced in their profession, and the acute shortage of physicians affecting millions of Canadians. He has interviewed several such international medical doctors, and the past president of the Canadian Medical Association, as well as Dr Jeffery Turnbull, the president of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, which is the licensing body that has to approve every physician practising in Ontario.
