We are saddened by the scurrilous, inaccurate characterization of Dr. Qais Ghanem and his proposed resolution submitted to a Green Party of Canada policy convention.

Yes, the resolution does call for the withdrawal of Israel to its 1967 borders. It also calls for a halt to all violent actions on both sides as do United Nations resolutions to which Israel is a signatory.

I am a retired Canadian Army Major living in Ottawa . In all my voting years I have chosen one of the major parties based on leadership, policy and current issues. The past two years have been a major disappointment to me.

I am the person who brought the Canada Day desecration and disrespect of our National War Museum to the attention of the public in 2006. I purposely say public as my efforts to get the Government and my own riding members, the McGuinty brothers to do something, were in vain.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's threats to call an election are offensive to voters on several counts. His government was elected as a minority, the public indicating that it did not have the confidence to give "Canada's New Government" free reign.

A big "hear, hear" to columnist Ken Gray whose column is right on the mark. He suggests that "perhaps Ottawa has begun to realize the folly of roads." I'm not so confident.
