Two years ago I was invited to a Bat Mitzvah at a synagogue downtown, and to my first seder at the home of a Jewish lawyer friend of mine. Both were interesting and new experiences for me.
Last week I attended my second seder, but this time the group was considerably bigger, with fifteen people, most of whom were Jewish, as would be expected. But there also five non-Jews, and for the others it was a new experience.
It was a well planned evening, which included some ritual, but it was interspersed with a lot of camaraderie and humour, and there were many young people there. We took turns reading from a book about the history of the Jewish people and later some took turns to express their inner feelings. That part, in my view, was the best. If you have never done that before, get an invitation next time. You might well enjoy the experience, like I did.
